A Famille Rose enamel figure depicting Liu Hai with his Money Toad. The figure stands on a rock painted in brown, blue, and violet enamels. A string of coins extends from his right arm into his left hand, while his left foot rests on the toad.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION :
The immortal Liu Haichan, depicted here, is revered as the god of wealth and fortune. He is commonly portrayed with one foot resting on his toad, Chanchu, which is drawn to the string of gold coins held by Liu Hai. In Taoist tradition, this toad is believed to produce a pearl capable of transforming a mortal into a Taoist immortal.
