On the back of the plate, the rim bears a floral decor, the border a frieze and the central area bears a double‑circle mark.

Similar examples are known, painted in Famille Verte enamels, and often with a larger diameter (24.5 cm). While the dating of these plates naturally points to the Kangxi period, dating them to the Yongzheng period would not be absurd — the floral borders and the way the figures are rendered suggest a finesse seen later under Emperor Yongzheng. Moreover, similar scenes painted on octagonal dishes, thus wider and longer, allow a greater appreciation of the delicacy of the drawing, and their dating could be assigned to the Yongzheng period. It would therefore be judicious to date these plates to the late Kangxi period.
