• Kangxi Period (1661-1722)
• D : 22cm
• Inv. GD309
A porcelain plate decorated in Holland in the Kakiemon style with quails and millet. The border is richly decorated with prunus blossoms on a green crackled enamel background. Roosters also appear in cartouches alternating with the quails.
On the reverse, a Jue pouring vessel within a double circle.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION :
The quality of the decoration and the presence of roosters suggest that it may be a Yongzheng period decoration on Kangxi period porcelain.
This motif does not appear in Helen Espir’s book on European Decoration on Oriental Porcelain, but a comparable model can be found there.
