A large blue and white horsemen dish

Large porcelain lobed dish decorated in blue and white with two horsemen and two standard-bearers. The background of the central scene shows a wall. The border is decorated with peony, prunus, orchid and arrowhead.

On the reverse is a mark that can be translated as :
“Elegantly made like precious stone for sacred friendship”.


ADDITIONAL INFORMATION :

The mark on the back is a particularly rare one; the dish held by the Rijksmuseum also bears this mark.
