A large “acrobats” cup and saucer

• Qianlong Period (1736-1795)

• H / D : 4,6cm / 13,9cm

• Inv. GD327

A porcelain cup and saucer decorated in Famille Rose enamels, with a lobed rim, depicting two jugglers and a tight-rope walker.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION :

This decoration is uncommon: it is executed in Famille Rose enamels in the manner of so-called “Mandarin” wares. It departs from the usual garden-scene decorations of human figures, and belongs rather to a narrative register.
