A blue and white porcelain nightlight in the shape of a cat
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION :
One can observe this type of cat‑shaped nightlight first under the Ming dynasty, then during the Kangxi period — but also later throughout the 18th century and during the first half of the 19th century.
The example presented here differs from the characteristic Kangxi models in both decoration and in the shape of the head; the blue decoration and the appearance of the paste are more in keeping with the Jiaqing period.
