The set bears the mark N:13 on the reverse.

Augustus the Strong (1670–1733), King of Poland and Elector of Saxony, had a lifelong particular interest in art, and especially in porcelain—an almost obsessive interest. In parallel with the Meissen porcelains, of which he collected nearly every piece created at the manufactory, he also collected the very essence of porcelain itself: the Japanese and Chinese porcelains that inspired Meissen to achieve its fine porcelain.

PROVENANCE :

– Augustus the Strong, King of Poland, Elector of Saxony
