A group representing a couple of Mandarins

• Kangxi Period (1661-1722)

• H : 17,8cm

• Inv. T22

A porcelain group representing a dignitary and a court lady, in celadon and blue enamels.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION :

This kind of group is normally dated to around 1740–1750. Here, it would be more appropriately dated to the Kangxi period — the way the faces are modelled is much more characteristic of that era, and although rare, such groups also exist from Kangxi. Moreover, an extraordinary delicacy can be seen in the modelling of the faces.
