A rare hexagonal Famille Rose porcelain vase, decorated with two alternating scenes of figures, interspersed with two panels showing a bird perched on a flowering branch, while a fourth panel is decorated only with flowers. The neck and base are also adorned with geometric floral motifs.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION :
One scene shows a man climbing onto a roof, looming over a young woman seated below. The other scene shows a man seemingly begging a woman — depicted among the clouds, holding a child in her arms. The scene is probably taken from The Romance of the Western Chamber.
