• Qianlong Period (1736-1795)

• D : 22,8cm

A porcelain plate with a central scene depicting a woman attended by her servants. The composition shows, at its centre, a woman accompanied by two attendants: one kneeling to serve her tea, the other fanning her.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION :

The same central scene is found, albeit with a different border, on two armorial services dating from the Qianlong period. One bears the arms of the Gordon/Forbes families (cf. Sotheby’s sale, 23 January 2010, lot 145, Chinese Export Porcelain from the Private Collection of Elinor Gordon), as well as that of the Powell/Cleland families (cf. D. Howard, Chinese Armorial Porcelain, 1974, p. 314).
